Job summary

A leading scientific instrument company in Cape Town seeks a qualified Service Engineer. Responsibilities include maintaining and calibrating equipment, providing training, and troubleshooting customer issues. Candidates should have an N5 Engineering qualification and experience with analytical instrumentation. Local travel might be required. Competitive remuneration to be discussed during the interview.

  • Comfortable with local travel and travel into Africa.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain products sold to customers, accurately record related documents.
  • Install, commission, and calibrate equipment sold.
  • Offer training on newly installed products.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment as necessary.
  • Provide technical solutions for customer inquiries.
  • Participate in training sessions for product maintenance.
  • Assist Sales Reps with identifying sales opportunities.
  • Promote company's services and products.

Job description

Lasec SA is looking to recruit a Service Engineer to join the Cape Town head office reporting to the Service Unit Manager.

Requirements that must be met:

  • Minimum N5 Electrical/Electronics/Instrumentation/Millwright Engineering qualification with Trade Test certificate and or/Diploma or similar
  • Experience as an Electronics/Instrumentation mechanician on component and board level
  • Be familiar with Laboratory, Scientific, Refrigeration and Analytical instrumentation.
  • Be familiar with SANAS mandate and ISO17025/2005 accreditation.
  • Be comfortable with local travel and where required, travel into Africa.

Summary of duties and responsibilities:

  • Maintain the products sold by the company to new and existing customers, accurately recording, and processing related documents and records.
  • Install, commission, and calibrate all equipment sold by the company.
  • Offer training on all newly installed and existing customer products within our product range.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on all equipment and instruments sold by the company.
  • Troubleshoot and repair all equipment where necessary.
  • Provide technical solutions for customers who visit the office and/or via the telephone.
  • Maintain competence by growing products and technical knowledge to ensure that you are up to date with the latest products, developments and designs.
  • Assist and participate with all training sessions which are aimed at facilitating the maintenance of the company’s product range.
  • Assist Sales Reps with identifying sales opportunities for new or replacement equipment.
  • Promote the company’s services and products.

Remuneration will be discussed at final interview stage.
