Alfa Laval South Africa is seeking a passionate and eager Supervisor: Service Centre Technician III for the Service Operation Division in the Middle East & Africa, based in Johannesburg.

Job Description

• Perform Service Centre tasks, including Rotating and Hex repairs
• Ensure proper housekeeping
• Engage in problem resolution for current tasks
• Train Service Centre interns
• Complete and submit service reports
• Maintain the highest quality workmanship
• Possess excellent knowledge of repair processes, products, and applications
• Monitor team/process performance with a focus on waste elimination
• Act as a liaison between support functions and the Team Manager
• Develop key processes and tools within the team
• Address competence gaps through training, coaching, and SOP audits
• Manage quality deviations and service execution stops with the Team Manager
• Support team members in immediate problem-solving when needed
• Participate in problem-solving and knowledge sharing across service organizations within Alfa Laval

Optional : Coordinate, plan, and support daily team/shift activities

• Share knowledge and support competence development
• Engage in 5S, safety, and quality initiatives
• Minimize workshop hours
• Continuously develop and inform oneself

Qualifications & Experience

General Experience :

• Minimum 2 years managing a workshop and leading a team of 5
• Proficient in MS Office
• Crane operation experience
• Rigging experience
• Forklift operation
• Experience with rotating equipment, decanters, high-speed separators, pumps
• Knowledge of HSEQ regulations
• Experience with GPHE/Hex units
• Safe chemical handling
• Working at heights

Millwright Experience :

• Electrical fault finding
• Experience with ABB VFD, soft starters, control systems, panel fault finding, system upgrades

Fitter and Turner Experience :

• MIG and TIG welding
• Balancing and operating balancing machines
• Operating manual lathe

Education & Certifications :

• Trade or Red Seal qualification in Millwright or Fitting and Turning (minimum 5 years qualified)
• Driver's license (minimum 3 years)
• Optional :
• Forklift license
• Crane license
• Rigging - 10 ton
