Position Overview
Working closely with the Technology Manager, the Senior Server and Systems Engineer is responsible for planning, implementing, and managing enterprise server systems that support and facilitate the school's technological vision.
Provide guidance and mentorship for the IT support team, while delivering high-level support and best practice knowledge to administrators and teachers in line with the school's learning goals.
The role involves developing, implementing, and supporting data server and storage systems across the organization, ensuring high uptime, availability, integration, and automation.
Lead and develop ongoing data server and storage initiatives, facilitate data exchange between systems, and automate data processes.
Evaluate and advise on technology components such as software, hardware, and networking for data server and storage systems and applications.
Duties & Responsibilities
- General Responsibilities
- Lead integration of complex enterprise network servers and storage systems.
- Manage and administer these systems, ensuring they are set up according to industry best practices.
- Design and implement technology projects related to enterprise servers and storage.
- Automate tasks using scripts and commands.
- Ensure systems are secure, compliant, and properly configured.
- Manage security certificates and antivirus solutions.
- Configure and manage virtual environments like Hyper-V and troubleshoot hypervisors.
- Ensure cloud servers are operational, especially on platforms like Azure.
- Conduct root cause analysis and resolve complex system issues.
- Monitor backups and logs across multiple sites.
- Develop disaster recovery plans and address system alerts.
- Coordinate troubleshooting with external providers.
- Maintain technical documentation and standard operating procedures.
- Participate in change management and provide system improvement recommendations.
- Assist in budgeting and stay updated on technological advancements.
- Follow ITIL guidelines and support on-site system needs.
- Participate in team meetings, training, and development activities.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Technology Manager.

Qualifications & Experience
- Matric Certificate, ITIL, MCP, MCSE, MCITP or related certifications.
- BSc in Computer Science or relevant field.
- Minimum of five years of advanced experience in enterprise server and storage management.
Skills & Knowledge
- Implementation and management of enterprise technology servers and systems.
- Experience with blade servers, storage, networking, and ProLiant servers.
- Proficiency in PowerShell scripting.
- Management of Active Directory, certificates, antivirus, backups, and hypervisors.
- Experience with cloud platforms like Azure and Google Workspace.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across hardware and software.
- Knowledge of enterprise printing solutions, cybersecurity, and MacOS management.
- Project management and business continuity planning skills.
Package & Remuneration
