Placements24 is seeking a Senior Wind Turbine Technician to join our client’s team in Pretoria, Gauteng. The role focuses on installation, maintenance, and repair of wind turbine systems, with emphasis on safety, reliability, and performance of wind energy assets.

The ideal candidate has deep expertise in wind turbine mechanics, electrical and hydraulic systems, and SCADA control systems, with a track record of mentoring junior technicians and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Formal qualification in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related trades.
• Minimum 7 years of wind turbine experience and offshore exposure is advantageous.
• Experience with large-scale turbine technology and safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and complex repairs on wind turbines.
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols and procedures.
• Install, commission, and decommission wind turbine components.
• Read and interpret manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
• Utilize specialized tools for troubleshooting and repair.
• Document maintenance activities in the CMMS system.
• Provide guidance to junior technicians and assist training.
• Participate in on-call rotations for urgent repairs.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements

• Demonstrated experience with offshore wind turbine systems is a significant advantage.


• Strong proficiency in diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.


• Experience with SCADA systems and wind turbine control systems.


• Ability to work at heights and in challenging weather conditions.


• Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.


• Strong commitment to health and safety regulations.


• Good communication skills, both written and verbal.


• Must be eligible to work in Pretoria, Gauteng , and possess a valid driver's license.
