Job summary

A leading mining company is seeking a Senior VOHE Officer to support compliance with health and hygiene regulations at the Kriel Colliery. The role requires monitoring occupational exposures and preparedness for emergencies. Candidates should have at least 5 years of experience in the field and a valid driver’s license. This position is based in Mpumalanga and aims for zero harm in operations.

Qualifications

• 5 Years’ experience in the Mining/Engineering field.
• Minimum of 2 years as a Colliery VOHE Officer/Occupational Hygiene Officer.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and report on legal compliance to Health & Hygiene Regulations.
• Control and reduce occupational exposures.
• Prepare for emergencies in line with zero harm commitment.

The role:

To support the VOHE Superintendent (MHSA 12.1 Appointee) function in monitoring and reporting on legal and corporatecompliance to relevant Health & Hygiene Regulations & Standards and achieve corporate goals for controlling and reducingoccupational exposures, prevention of fires and explosions, preparedness for emergencies in line with our commitment to zeroharm.

Responsibilities will include but not limited to:

Requirements:

• Grade 12 with Math (Not Literacy) OR N3 Math and Science with a Certificate in Mine Environmental Control (MEC)
• 5 Years’ experience in the Mining/Engineering field with minimum of 2 years as a Colliery VOHE Officer/Occupational Hygiene Officer
• Computer literacy (MS Office)
• Valid driver’s license
• In possession or able to obtain a valid Certificate of Fitness

Advantageous:

• B Tech, B Sc, B Eng., National Diploma Mechanical/Engineering
