Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Urban Design Architect to shape major urban regeneration projects in Vereeniging, Gauteng. You will lead concept development, master planning and public realm design, aligning social, economic and environmental goals with visionary urban outcomes.

The role requires a ProArch registration with SACAP (or equivalent) and a minimum of 8 years in urban design or master planning, with proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Rhino, GIS and Adobe Creative Suite.

Qualifications

• Registered Architect with SACAP or equivalent urban planning/design credential.
• Minimum of 8 years in urban design, master planning or related fields.
• Proven experience leading or contributing to urban development projects.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Rhino, GIS and Adobe Creative Suite.
• Strong understanding of urban planning principles, zoning and development processes.

Responsibilities

• Develop urban design concepts, master plans and frameworks for new developments and regeneration projects.
• Analyze urban contexts to identify opportunities and constraints for development.
• Collaborate with urban planners, landscape architects, engineers and stakeholders.
• Design public spaces, streetscapes and pedestrian networks to boost urban vitality.
• Ensure designs promote sustainability, accessibility and community well-being.
• Prepare high-quality visualisations, diagrams and reports to communicate proposals.
• Advise on urban design guidelines and policies.
• Conduct feasibility studies and site analyses for large-scale projects.
• Integrate housing, commercial, recreational and public infrastructure into cohesive plans.
• Stay current with best practices in urban design, planning and sustainable development.
