Job description

Senior Travel Consultant required in Pretoria East.

We are seeking a highly experienced and customer-focused Senior Travel Consultant.

The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of travel planning, ticketing, and client relationship management.

This role involves overseeing complex itineraries, offering expert travel advice, and mentoring junior consultants.

Salary: R25 000 – R30 000 pm based on experience with Performance-based incentives.

Benefits applicable after 3 months probation:Provident fund contribution and Medical Aid contribution.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Client Consultation & Sales:

  • Advise clients on travel options, including flights, accommodation, tours, visas, and insurance.
  • Tailor travel packages to meet individual or corporate client needs.
  • Handle bookings for complex itineraries, group travel, and VIP clients.

Bookings & Administration:

  • Make reservations using GDS (e.g., Amadeus, Galileo, Sabre).
  • Issue and reissue airline tickets, handle changes and cancellations.
  • Manage travel documentation and ensure all bookings comply with regulations.

Supplier & Partner Coordination:

  • Liaise with airlines, hotels, car rental agencies, and tour operators.
  • Negotiate rates and secure competitive pricing for clients.

Customer Service:

  • Offer after-sales support and handle complaints or travel disruptions.
  • Build and maintain long-term client relationships.

Team Leadership & Mentoring:

  • Support junior consultants with training and daily queries.
  • Share product knowledge and sales strategies with the team.

Reporting & Targets:

  • Meet or exceed sales targets and KPIs.
  • Prepare sales reports and contribute to budgeting and forecasting.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in travel consulting
  • Proficiency in Travelport / Galileo and GDS Certificate
  • Proven track record of handling high-value clients or complex bookings
  • Group and Africa corporate travel experience imperative
  • Extensive expertise in the travel industry and emerging trends and market developments
  • Fully bilingual
  • Own reliable vehicle
  • Reside within 15km of Pretoria East
