Job summary

A mining services company is looking for a Training Coordinator based in the Northern Cape. This role focuses on developing and implementing training programs to enhance the skills of staff while ensuring compliance with industry standards. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in human resource development, particularly in the mining sector, supported by various qualifications and at least 5 years of relevant experience.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a training environment in the mining industry.
  • Knowledge of engineering/minerals skills programs.
  • Valid Driver’s License.

Job description

Introduction
This position will be based at a site close to Aggeneys in the Northern Cape.

Description
The purpose of this position is to equip staff with the knowledge and practical skills to carry out work-related tasks, and to help with the ongoing, long-term improvement of employees' skills to enable them to fulfil their potential within the Plant.

Qualification Requirements
Matric(Grade 12) or an equivalent qualification registered at NQF Level 4
National Diploma in Human Resource Development, Training Management, or a related field (Mining / Mineral Processing / Engineering)
Certificate in Training & Development (OD ETDP level 5 certificate) or relevant qualification
Assessor, Moderator certificate

Experience and Skills Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a training environment in the mining or mineral processing industry
  • Knowledge of Isometrix / HSEC systems
  • Experience in Engineering / Minerals skills programs, learnerships & qualifications.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 / ISO 45000:2018 / ISO 14001:2015
  • English language proficiency

  • Must have good interpersonal skills and must be able to work effectively with colleagues, trainees, supervisor and managers

Duties and Responsibilities

Human Resources

  • Ensure compliance with Gamsberg Health and Safety responsibilities and legal and operational requirements
  • Identifying training and development needs within the Plant through engagement with the relevant stakeholders
  • Design and expand training and development programs based on the needs of the plant and the individual
  • Produce / develop training materials for in-house courses
  • Facilitate training courses as well as on-the-job training in the plant on a needs basis
  • Attend client meetings and Visible Coaching Leadership (VCL) as and when required
  • Ensure that statutory training requirements are met
  • Monitor and review the progress of trainees through questionnaires and discussions with the Supervisors and the Plant Manager
  • Manage the delivery of training and development programs, using ISO principles where applicable
  • Amend and revise programs as necessary, in order to adapt to changes occurring in the plant
  • Assist Supervisors to solve specific training problems, either on a one-to-one basis or in groups
  • Have an understanding of e-learning techniques, and where relevant, being involved in the creation and/or delivery of e-learning packages
  • Updating of the training database and employee training files / records and matrices
  • Ensure training complies with MQA and ISO standards and practices
  • Act as Secondary SDF
  • Work according to the Mine Code of Practice and report any deviations
  • Prepare progress reports and any other reports as required by management and maintain employees’ training records
  • Manage training programs to ensure they are delivering results
  • Prepare training schedules, allocate instructors to different courses and monitor costs to keep programs within budget
  • Approve training orders as per site procedure
  • Monitor and update training actions on the Isometrix system
  • Drive and Support Gamsberg’s retention of BBBEE certification through compliant training practices
  • Management of the site-based training team ensuring that KPI’s are set and monitored, and that PDPs are in place
People Management and Training
  • Supervise subordinates in their daily activities to ensure that administration is according to organisational standards and training requirements
  • Advise line on skills development of personnel
  • Provide information for the development of succession plans
  • Promote adherence to HRD related legislative requirements
  • Support, promote and sustain a learning culture in Gamsberg
Financial
  • Supports the L&D Manager to compile annual Training budgets
  • Recommends and incorporates cost saving initiatives into budgets and controls expenditure within approved parameters
  • Flags potential under / over expenditure risks timeously
Health, Safety and Legal Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with Gamsberg Health and Safety responsibilities
  • Identify hazards and risks while performing daily tasks
  • Comply with provided systems, practices, methods, standards and procedures of the job
