Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Industrial Welder for our Kimberley workshop to expertly perform TIG and MIG welding on steel, stainless, and aluminum parts. You will read complex drawings, select welding procedures, and ensure high-quality joins for industrial equipment.

This hands-on role requires precision, safety compliance, and the ability to mentor junior welders while maintaining production schedules in a demanding fabrication environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience as a certified Industrial Welder.
• Certified in TIG and MIG welding from a recognized institution.
• Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and welding symbols.
• Experience with carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.
• Proficiency in welding inspection tools and techniques.
• Strong attention to detail and quality focus.
• Ability to work independently in demanding conditions.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transport advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Perform high-quality TIG and MIG welding on steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.
• Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints and welding specifications to determine weld procedures.
• Prepare metal surfaces for welding by cleaning, grinding, and deburring.
• Set up welding equipment according to job requirements and safety standards.
• Inspect welds for defects such as porosity, cracks, and incomplete fusion, making necessary corrections.
• Maintain welding equipment and tools in good working order.
• Ensure a clean and safe work environment, following all safety regulations and company policies.
• Assist in the training and guidance of junior welders.
• Collaborate with fabricators, machinists, and supervisors to ensure project timelines are met.
