About the Role :
As a Senior Technical Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in the development of mission-critical infrastructure services that underpin all activities. You will be an integral part of the Core Infrastructure team in the Enterprise Infrastructure Services division. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, managing, and developing our business-critical university enterprise Linux platforms, storage, backup services, and other ICT systems. Your contributions will directly impact the success of their team, and your technical expertise will be crucial in ensuring that the university maximizes its investment in IT infrastructure.
What You'll Be Working On :
- Providing highly specialized technical support for essential business services, systems, and infrastructure.
- Designing, maintaining, and managing one or more business-critical ICT systems and infrastructure service components.
- Taking a lead role in the development and implementation of infrastructure, systems, and services through project work.
- Offering technical guidance and leadership for key systems and infrastructure service components.
- Collaborating with a diverse team to ensure seamless service delivery and the successful execution of projects

A relevant qualification (degree in computer science or Information Systems) at NQF level 7A minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in enterprise ICT infrastructureExpertise should include at least 5 years of relevant current technical experienceRequired Technical Skills and Competencies :
Expert-level proficiency in large-scale enterprise storage system administration, support, design, and implementation.Advanced knowledge and working experience of Linux operating systems at an administration level.Demonstrated experience in data archival and backup systems implementation and support, preferably with expertise in VEEAM and Networker.Proficiency in various mechanisms for presenting storage to application environments.Hands-on experience implementing and managing complex file transfer and storage mechanisms, including File, Block, and Object based storage.In-depth knowledge of enterprise storage hardware, architectures, and associated software.Experience administering systems and applications on virtualized platforms, including private / public cloud environments (VMware, Hyper-V, AWS, Azure).Familiarity with Cloud migration and adoption projects, particularly in Azure and AWS.Knowledge of Cloud storage protocols such as S3.Proficiency in administering physical and virtual infrastructure hosts in complex heterogeneous environments.Strong knowledge of network infrastructure services (e.g., DNS, DHCP) and various networking protocols.Familiarity with containerization technology (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker).
