KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Contribute to operational submissions to Line Manager regarding Business Unit Strategy aligned with the Corporate Plan and Target Operating Model.
- Assist in developing Opex Plans and contributing to project scope development.
- Participate in Capex project execution and operational workflows to meet functional requirements and prevent on-air disruptions.
- Contribute to departmental budget with Minor Capex & Opex inputs.
- Ensure maintenance and system sustainability through Opex contributions.
- Support the Specialist with marketable Sound/Video skills to develop alternative Revenue Streams such as CD Artists Recording, Webinars, External Live Broadcasts, etc., as per external tariff list.
- Meet agreed target percentages for resource, equipment, and facility availability, and achieve above-average SLA ratings.
- Submit ad-hoc fault reports and resolutions to line manager as needed.
- Provide accurate monthly reports on broadcast, recording, production, and post-production deliverables, highlighting risks and proposing solutions.
- Coordinate operational production requirements and set up, test, and operate facility equipment.
- Record music/choir per SOP, liaising with music producers or church representatives as appropriate.
- Set up and operate camera and Live View equipment for News and external broadcasts.
- Understand mic placements and industry best practices.
- Manage in-field recordings, mixing, and front-of-house audio requirements.
- Record multi-layered drama productions with FX, music, and multiple audio streams.
- Perform recordings according to customer requirements and broadcast standards, monitoring sound quality during recordings.
- Monitor schedule changes and ensure sound/video quality meets broadcast standards.
- Archive recordings following best practices and set up mix-minus configurations.
- Manipulate final audio/visual mixes as per customer requirements and standards.
- Ensure timely delivery of production materials within scope and specifications.
- Set up and operate Broadcast Communication conferencing with multi-layer contributions.
- Contribute to specifications aligned with customer needs and procurement policies.
- Report and escalate risks with corrective plans.
- Adhere to OHS and company policies & procedures, maintaining discipline.
- Verify assets annually (target: 95%) and control all assets, including outside broadcasts.
- Serve customers professionally, ensuring service quality and addressing non-conformance.
- Provide operational guidance to customers and assist with facility capabilities.
- Follow performance management policies, conduct annual performance agreements, and quarterly reviews.
- Offer operational training regularly.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Sound Engineering Certificate (1+ year) or Film/Video Technology or relevant qualification.
- Advantage: Sound Engineering Diploma (3 years, NQF Level 6).
- Driver’s License: C1 (Code 10) with PDP.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in broadcast environment, including at least 3 years at Operator level with relevant digital sound & video experience in live, production, and post-production environments.
