Senior Technical Official – Transformers & Switchgear (Distribution)

Eskom is seeking to fill two positions for a Senior Technical Official in the Transformers & Switchgear (Distribution) division in the Eastern Cape, Mthatha.

This is an exciting opportunity for professionals who are eager to contribute to the maintenance, construction, installation, and repairs of medium and high-voltage power plant equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Perform specialised maintenance, construction, installation, and repairs on transformers, switchgear, and related power plant equipment.
2. Ensure compliance with safety, health, environmental, and quality standards.
3. Provide excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
4. Offer on-the-job training and coaching to team members.

Minimum Requirements:

Qualification(s): Artisan (dry trade) Trade Certificate in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering at NQF4 with credits.

Related Minimum Experience: 3 years of practical experience in a technical environment, specifically in power distribution.

1. Familiarity with Eskom standards, procedures, directives, and guidelines.
2. In-depth knowledge of power plant-specific transformers, auxiliary systems, and switchgear.
3. Understanding of quality management (ISO and standards).
4. Emergency response and safety protocols.

Technical Skills:

1. Valid driver's license code EB.
2. Authorisation for outcome five switching up to 33kV.
3. Truck driving.
