Job summary

G-Core Capital in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, seeks a senior engineering leader responsible for technical strategy, governance and lifecycle performance across locally manufactured, imported and integrated retail solutions.

You will lead R&D, product design, validation, manufacturing engineering and capably manage supplier approvals, installations, service and warranty, with accountability for three strategic pillars and measurable objectives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical/ electrical/ industrial engineering or HVACR.
• Registration as a professional engineer (ECSA or equivalent) is highly advantageous.
• Proven experience in product development, manufacturing engineering and technical service.
• 5+ years of senior leadership in technical, R&D, engineering or production roles.
• Refrigeration and factory equipment/building automation knowledge is a plus.
• Experience managing multidisciplinary functions across R&D, design, manufacturing and site execution.

Responsibilities

• Oversee three pillars: Product Design & Innovation, Service & Technical Support, and After-Sales & Warranty.
• Approve engineering standards, designs, deviations and product releases.
• Provide strategic oversight of factory equipment, manufacturing tech and production engineering.
• Ensure quality, environmental, health, safety and product certification compliance.
• Coordinate with client teams and suppliers to implement new technologies.
• Deliver high-level technical consultation to key clients and drive corrective actions.

Job description

Accountable for technical strategy, engineering governance and product lifecycle performance across locally manufactured, imported and integrated retail solutions. The role leads R&D, product design, validation, manufacturing engineering and technical capability, and governs the technical aspects of supplier approval, installations, commissioning, service and warranty.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for three strategic functional pillars: Product Design & Innovation, Service & Technical Support, and After-Sales & Warranty.
• Each pillar should have clear accountability, measurable objectives and defined leadership while collectively supporting Concord's strategic objectives.
• Approve engineering standards, designs, technical deviations and product releases, and to stop any design, manufacture, installation or product release presenting an unacceptable safety, compliance, quality or business risk.

Factory Equipment & Manufacturing Technology:

• Provide strategic oversight of factory equipment, manufacturing technologies, testing facilities, and production engineering processes.
• Quality and Compliance - Ensure compliance with applicable quality, environmental, health and safety, and product certification standards.
• Work closely with the Quality Department to investigate technical issues, implement corrective actions, and reduce warranty claims.
• Client & Stakeholder Engagement - Liaise with engineering/development teams of client, contractors and suppliers to develop and implement required new technologies.
• Deliver technical support in the factory and on client’s sites and coordinate with technical support teams to implement corrective and preventative measures.
• Provide high-level technical consultation to key clients, ensuring solutions meet strategic needs.
• Project & Operations Oversight - Establish project goals and priorities by collaborating with Sales, Marketing and Operations.
• After-Sales, Service & Technical Support

Qualifications & Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, HVACR Engineering (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning & Refrigeration)
• Professional engineering registration (ECSA or equivalent) – highly advantageous.
• Proven experience in product development, manufacturing engineering, factory operations, continuous improvement, project/installation management, and technical service environments.
• 5+ years in senior leadership within technical, R&D, engineering, or production environments.
• Refrigeration and engineering expertise, strong understanding of factory equipment, production processes, automation technologies, and manufacturing best practices - highly advantageous.

• Strong commercial and customer-centric mindset with experience in project execution and after-sales support.
