Senior Systems Analyst – Banking & Cross Border Payments

One of our clients a leading financial institution in the Banking and Foreign Exchange/Payments industry is seeking a Senior Systems Analyst to drive the design and implementation of complex IT solutions for large-scale and cross-functional projects.

This role focuses on analysing, designing, and delivering systems functionality, often within high-impact or multi-team programmes, particularly in the Forex and cross-border payments domain.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and facilitate system design sessions and document functional/system specifications.
• Analyze integration requirements (e.g., APIs, XML, flat files), write SQL queries, and contribute to database and configuration design.
• Support both business-as-usual and innovation-focused initiatives across system enhancements, migrations, and new product development.
• Engage with multiple stakeholders including architects, QA, business analysts, vendors, and external partners.
• Model system designs using UML 2.5 and ensure usability in UI design with or without UX support.
• Mentor junior analysts and lead project-level analysis efforts from end-to-end.

Industry Expertise Required:

• Extensive experience with cross-border payment systems including SWIFT, ISO20022 (PAIN, PACS, CAMT), and SWIFT MT messages.
• Understanding of Balance of Payments reporting, exchange controls, RTGS payments, and SARB/Finsurv integration.
• Proven track record in Payments modernization projects and Forex infrastructure.

Qualifications & Experience: Requirements:

• Degree or Diploma and/or CBAP Certification
• 10+ years of relevant systems analysis experience
• 4 to 5 years of experience in Payments and Forex industry domains
• Proficiency in Use Cases and UML
• Familiarity with Forex IT infrastructure
• Experience in Development and Production Incident Management
• Ability to mentor Junior Analysts
