Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly experienced Senior Structural Engineer to join our client’s Paarl team in the Western Cape. The role focuses on designing and analyzing complex structural systems for commercial, industrial, and residential buildings, leading projects and mentoring junior engineers.

You will ensure designs comply with SANS and building regulations, manage client relationships, and collaborate with architects and contractors on landmark projects in the Cape Winelands.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Structural Engineering or closely related field.
• At least 7 years of proven structural engineering design experience.
• Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) registration with ECSA is essential.

About the Role

You will lead structural design projects, mentor junior engineers, and ensure that all designs meet the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and compliance. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the structural design of various building types, from conceptualization to detailed construction drawings.
• Perform advanced structural analysis using sophisticated software for seismic, wind, and gravity loads.
• Prepare comprehensive structural specifications, reports, and calculations.
• Ensure designs comply with the latest South African National Standards (SANS) and relevant building regulations.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior structural engineers and CAD technicians.
• Collaborate closely with architects, civil engineers, and contractors to ensure seamless project execution.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Structural Engineering or a closely related field.
• A minimum of 7 years of proven experience in structural engineering design.
• Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) registration with ECSA is essential.
• Expertise in using structural analysis software such as ETABS, SAP2000, Prokon, or equivalent.
• Deep understanding of concrete, steel, and masonry design principles.
• Excellent project management and client liaison skills.
