Our client, a cutting-edge biopharmaceutical company, seeks a Senior Structural Biologist with Cryo-EM expertise to elucidate 3D structures of macromolecules for drug discovery. You will lead the full pipeline from sample prep to structure determination at our Kimberley facility in Northern Cape, collaborating with cross-functional teams.

You will publish findings, mentor staff, and help acquire new structural biology technologies, ensuring rigorous data integrity and safety across projects.

Formación

• Ph.D. in structural biology, biochemistry, biophysics, or related field.
• Minimum 7 years post-doctoral experience in structural biology with strong Cryo-EM focus.
• Proven track record of high-resolution Cryo-EM structures of challenging targets.
• Experience with plunge freezing and Cryo-EM sample preparation.
• Proficiency in Cryo-EM data processing software (RELION, cryoSPARC, cisTEM).
• Strong communication and publication record.

Responsabilidades

• Lead Cryo-EM projects to determine high-resolution structures of proteins and complexes.
• Develop and optimize protocols for protein expression, purification, and Cryo-EM sample prep.
• Operate and maintain Cryo-EM instrumentation and related equipment.
• Perform data collection and processing with advanced Cryo-EM software.
• Interpret structural data to guide drug design and mechanistic understanding.
• Collaborate with biochemists, structural biologists, and computational chemists.
• Mentor junior scientists and contribute to strategic planning of new technologies.
