Job description

To support and influence the strategic direction of Nedbank CIB by leading strategic planning, performance monitoring, and strategic communications. The role ensures alignment of organisational goals with market positioning, driving impact across internal and external stakeholders.

Job Responsibilities

1. Strategy Planning and Formulation

  • Support delivery of CIB’s long- and short-term strategy processes, as well as strategic projects aligned to cluster goals and market opportunities
  • Engage stakeholders and curate content for BU strategies, key strategic themes, and CIB’s overall three-year plan to the Board
  • Support and facilitate brainstorming/working sessions for teams and BU/unit strategies
  • Document strategy narrative for executive committee/Board presentations
  • Act as advisor to senior leadership on strategic matters
  • Build/maintain strong working relationships with senior stakeholders across CIB and Group to ensure aligned thinking and enhanced delivery
  • Act as senior liaison between CEO’s office, strategy team, and BUs
  • Foster innovative approaches to problem-solving, leveraging data/AI
  • Challenge assumptions and drive unconventional thinking to unlock solutions

2. Strategic Insights

  • Conduct market intelligence and research to inform strategic planning
  • Provide thought leadership and data-driven insights to support strategic initiatives

3. Strategic Communications and Engagement

  • Lead the communications pillar, creating awareness and ensuring consistent messaging of CIB’s overarching strategy
  • Custodian of strategic messaging: develop key messages and ensure consistency across all channels (events, induction, internal comms)
  • Source/curate content for leadership conferences and CIB updates
  • Drive and implement CIB’s awards portfolio/process and project manage as required
  • Work with BUs to prepare/submit award entries

4. Strategic Performance Management and Reporting

  • Lead Monitoring and Tracking pillar by driving reporting framework innovation and design
  • Drive enhancements in reporting frameworks/dashboards
  • Develop executive performance scorecard management
  • Monitor, evaluate, and report on effectiveness of strategies, recommending adjustments as needed
  • Contribute to Executive and Board reporting: prepare high-quality strategic inputs for H1/FY analyst presentations and integrated reports
Essential Qualifications - NQF Level
  • Advanced Diplomas/National 1st Degrees
  • Professional Qualifications/Honour’s Degree
Preferred Qualification

MBA or CFA

Minimum Experience Level

4–6 years in a financial services, analytical, and/or strategic environment

  • Experience in banking and/or consulting, with CIB exposure preferred
