Job description

Our client in the Banking / Finance and Investment industry has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Statutory Accountant in Gauteng, Pretoria.

Job Brief
  1. Review booked invoices from Oracle for each MEA entity in the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region to ensure compliance.
  2. Review various tax schedules and data packs for monthly, quarterly, bi-annual, and annual compliance reporting.
  3. Forward tax schedules to outsourced tax consultants for review and validation.
  4. Interact with in-country outsourced tax consultant teams regarding the review of tax data packs.
  5. Manage and respond to queries and feedback from the MEA Tax Management Team.
  6. Support MEA Tax Management in executing MEA region tax compliance.
  7. Review Trial Balances for all MEA entities to validate entries and completeness.
  8. Review expense and revenue General Ledger accounts across MEA Operating Units for accuracy and completeness.
  9. Verify Service Fee calculations to ensure alignment with Marketing and Liaison Agreements.
  10. Prepare revenue and expense projections for tax calculations such as Provisional, Instalment, Advance corporate, and final taxes.
  11. Collaborate with the MEA Controllership Team for trial balance validation and audit support.
  12. Support tax audits by handling queries from Tax Authorities and providing necessary documentation.
  13. Compile, review, and post journals in the accounting system.
  14. Prepare and review Tax Balance Sheet Reconciliations.
  15. Monitor expense and payment bookings for correct allocations.
  16. Liaise with internal stakeholders like AP, Payments, and Accounting to ensure accurate transaction recording.
  17. Handle audit information requests related to indirect taxes for MEA entities.
  18. Identify opportunities for process improvements (CPI) in MEA tax compliance processes.
  19. Manage client expectations effectively.
  20. Supervise a team of 3 FTEs, contribute to performance reviews, review work, allocate tasks, and provide training.
