Job summary

Global Edge Group is seeking a Senior SQL Server Developer to join a growing technology environment supporting business-critical operational systems. This hands-on role focuses on owning the database code, performance and reliability.

You will develop complex T-SQL stored procedures, functions and queries, optimise performance and work with Agile teams to deliver robust SQL Server solutions hosted on AWS RDS.

Qualifications

Global Edge Group is recruiting for a Senior SQL Server Developer to join a growing technology environment supporting business‑critical operational systems. This is a hands‑on T‑SQL development role for someone who enjoys building, optimising and supporting robust SQL Server solutions within a collaborative software‑development environment. You’ll work closely with application developers and technical stakeholders, developing the database code that supports mobile, web, desktop and operational applications. The environment includes production SQL Server databases hosted on AWS RDS.

What you’ll be doing

• Develop, test and maintain complex T‑SQL stored procedures, functions and queries
• Analyse and optimise existing SQL code for performance, scalability and reliability
• Design, develop and maintain SSRS reports
• Work closely with application developers to ensure seamless application‑to‑database integration
• Translate business requirements into effective SQL Server solutions
• Troubleshoot database‑related issues and identify performance or design risks
• Maintain version control, technical documentation, and database‑development standards
• Participate in Agile sprints, code reviews and development‑team discussions
• Support high‑availability operational systems, including occasional after‑hours support where required

Exposure to AWS RDS, Agile software development, version control and integrating SQL Server databases with application environments would be highly advantageous.

Important

This is a SQL development position not a traditional DBA role. The focus is on owning the database code, its performance and reliability. Database infrastructure, instance administration, backups, and patching are handled separately by the IT function. The role is also focused on transactional and operational systems rather than ETL/data‑warehouse development.
