REQUIREMENTS :

  • A minimum of a Three-year Degree / National Diploma (NQF level 6) as recognized by SAQA in Sport and Recreation Management, Sport Science, Sport Development, Sport Administration, or a relevant qualification;
  • 2-3 years of relevant experience at a Sport and Recreation Coordinator / Sport Promotion Officer level in the sports sector;
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel.

DUTIES :

  • The purpose of this post is to contribute towards increasing the number of people participating in Sport and Recreation programs. Facilitate the development of a framework to increase participation in community sport and recreation activities.
  • Inform stakeholders about legislation within the sport and recreation sector. Coordinate and assist in developing frameworks to increase participation from specific target groups. Assist in monitoring and evaluating the increase in participation from these groups.
  • Assist in implementing interventions to boost participation. Analyze provincial business plans against the grant framework. Receive, acknowledge, and analyze business plans from provinces. Identify areas for improvement and provide feedback on performance and financial information.
  • Arrange meetings with provinces to discuss findings. Receive final approved business plans and file them. Assist in developing policies and delivery mechanisms to increase participation, consulting relevant stakeholders, consolidating inputs, and presenting drafts for feedback. Ensure implementation and review their effectiveness.
  • Develop a monitoring schedule and implement measures. Send schedules to provinces, receive reports, conduct desktop and physical monitoring, and assess provincial performance against targets.
  • Meet with provincial coordinators to discuss progress. Liaise with stakeholders involved in community sport and recreation activities. Convene and attend meetings to plan and implement projects.
