Minimum Requirements :
- Grade 12 / Matric, Bachelor’s Degree in Town and Regional Planning, Urban Development Studies, or Civil Engineering
- Minimum of 5 - 7 years planning experience, including at least 1 year in spatial planning strategy formulation and policy development
Primary Function :
- Assist in coordinating the planning, development, and management of infrastructure through the Johannesburg Strategic Infrastructure Platform, ensuring alignment with IDP and related strategies. Provide technical input for capital budgeting and interface with political leaders, senior officials, and the public.
- Facilitate development processes and projects for implementation. Manage the Johannesburg Strategic Infrastructure Platform (JSIP) and contribute to its improvements. Guide departmental and MoE capital investments to align with strategic planning frameworks and city priorities.
- Analyze development and capital investment trends, formulate growth management strategies, and assist in preparing the Capital Investment Framework (CIF) by analyzing data using advanced Excel functions such as VLOOKUP, PivotTables, Macros, and data visualization tools.
Key Performance Areas :
- Coordinate capital infrastructure investment for the city’s capital budget
- Develop policies to address urban development issues
- Support and facilitate the budget adjustment process
- Coordinate area-based planning processes
- Assist in capturing information on capital projects for the Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) submitted for IDP and budget processes
- Provide technical and administrative support for city processes such as IDP, public participation, business plans, and the capital budget
- Manage workflow and office administration
