Job Description

The role is responsible for defining, implementing and managing the Security Operations Centre (SOC) as a 24/7/365 cyber situational awareness, incident response, forensic analysis and cyber threat intelligence management centre with a mission to reduce the likelihood and severity of incidents and vulnerabilities that may compromise the security and resilience of Anglo American Platinum and the availability of business and OT critical systems.

Job responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Build & maintain an innovative security operations, threat hunting and intelligence practice, including best-of-breed defense and intelligence operations.
  • Build a team and practice to monitor and analyze security alerts from various security tools and systems. Triage alerts from detection platforms, identifying and removing false positive issues and escalating genuine identified attacks.
  • Document formal, technical incident reports for consumption by infrastructure teams and senior leadership.
  • Respond to and investigate security incidents and breaches.
  • Work efficiently to create, maintain and meet organization specific SOC metrics and SLAs
  • Develop and implement security monitoring and incident response procedures with practice team leads.
  • Collaborate with other IM and security teams to integrate security operations into overall IM operations.
  • Conduct regular security audits and assessments to ensure compliance with security policies.
  • Provide guidance and training on security operations to staff.
  • Monitors threat intelligence feeds to identify a range of threats, including indicators of compromise and advanced persistent threats (APTs)
  • Identify the tactics, techniques and procedures (TTPs) of potential threats through the MITRE ATT&CK or similar frameworks
Qualifications
  • An undergraduate qualification (Bachelors degree/Diploma or equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, cybersecurity, or a related field.
  • It would be advantageous to have a postgraduate qualification in Computer Science, Engineering, cybersecurity, or a related field OR a proven track record of extensive practical experience in a role and context of similar complexity.

Certifications

  • Valid EB/Code 08 driver’s licence
  • Security Certification (e.g. CISSP, CEH, GIAC GSOM, OSDA)
  • Registration with professional bodies (Desirable)

Experience

  • 5 – 7 years working experience in a similar role

Technical Knowledge

  • Demonstrated ability to analyse large data sets and identify anomalies
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly create and deploy countermeasures under pressure
  • Experience with monitoring networks, detecting threats, and responding to incidents.
  • Experience with report writing, investigational techniques and communicating to large audiences.
