Job Summary

The Financial Decision Support function covers the reporting of financial and management information within Absa CIB. It involves the analysis and interpretation of this reporting and providing the business with meaningful insights to enable decision-making.

The key stakeholders to whom the team provides continuous decision support are: CIB CFO, CIB CEO, senior management within CIB, as well as the wider Absa Group.

Being at the center of the CIB Finance teams, it is imperative that the successful candidate displays excellent interpersonal skills.

Job Description
Key Accountabilities
  1. Monthly Performance Reporting and Analysis: Consolidate and understand each month's estimate/flash, with input from Finance BP's, and share with Group Finance for consolidation into a wider Absa view.
  2. Lead the month-end process, ensuring ledger closure in collaboration with Financial Control.
  3. Prepare monthly performance packs comparing current performance to prior year and budget/RAF.
  4. Conduct variance analysis of income statement and balance sheet across SA and ARO regions, highlighting concerns to senior management.
  5. Ensure accuracy of management information provided to stakeholders.
  6. Prepare and analyze slide submissions related to CIB's performance.
  7. Present monthly performance and analysis to forums such as CIB Fincom and CIB ExCo.
Stakeholder Management
  • Manage expectations and communicate effectively with stakeholders, prioritizing tasks appropriately.
  • Prepare half-year and full-year result reports.
  • Draft commentary and briefing notes for external and internal audiences, including the CFO and CEO.
  • Ensure integrity and accuracy in all commentary.
  • Provide ad-hoc analysis on business performance.
Financial Planning and Budgeting
  • Contribute to financial planning and budgeting processes with analysis and input.
Education and Experience Required
  • CA(SA) / CIMA qualification.
  • 5+ years post-qualification investment banking experience is advantageous.
