What you’ll do

The role of the Senior Specialist: Estates is to manage and oversee the Estates and property portfolio within the respective region. This will include staff, contractor, vendor, customer, and stakeholder management and relations, requiring regular travel to/from regions and head office. Responsibilities include optimizing efficiencies, lowering costs, and achieving favorable contractual terms while adhering to all regulatory and MAST policies, procedures, and processes.

The Senior Specialist will manage Specialist and Admin staff in the region and oversee their own portfolio, with duties including:

  • Developing and maintaining strategic relationships with landlords, stakeholders, and relevant government bodies.
  • Executing MAST's property strategy to maximize tenancy and manage costs effectively.
  • Negotiating lease renewals and rental agreements focused on cost reduction.
  • Coordinating site activities, ensuring smooth communication between landlords, contractors, and stakeholders.
  • Managing lease tracking, budgeting, dispute resolution, and teamwork to maintain business continuity.

Implement and manage programs related to lease and contract renewals, landlord negotiations, customer liaisons, and estates projects, fostering MAST’s culture and behaviors aligned with the Performance Management Framework.

  • Managing rentals and developing initiatives to reduce costs proactively.
  • Maintaining high productivity and an entrepreneurial approach in managing operations, staff, vendors, and stakeholders.
  • Upholding high standards of customer service and quality assurance.
  • Developing and implementing innovative initiatives to further reduce and optimize operational expenses (OPEX).
  • Compiling management reports, dashboards, and strategic and operational presentations.

Must-have technical/professional qualifications:

  • Matric certificate (Essential).
  • Relevant Degree or Diploma such as BSc in Quantity Surveying, Building Science, Civil Engineering, Project Management, Town Planning, or Property Management (Essential).
  • Management courses or experience (e.g., MDP/MDC) (Desirable).
  • 5 to 8 years relevant experience, including:
    • 2 to 3 years knowledge of contractual legal requirements (Essential).
    • 2 to 3 years environmental knowledge and experience (Essential).
    • 2 to 3 years town planning knowledge and experience (Essential).
