Engineering Specialist - Water Department
Engineering Firm in Krugersdorp is seeking to employ an Engineering Specialist in their Water Department.
Successful candidate must meet the following requirements:
- 20 or more years' experience in a relevant engineering environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (B. Eng or B.Sc.Eng).
- Registration with ECSA as a Professional Engineer (Pr.Eng).
Duties & Responsibilities
- Promoting and applying employee engagement practices, including recognition, empowerment, supportive feedback, partnering, expectations, consideration, and trust.
- Performing all work in accordance with the Company's Quality Management System (QMS), Policies, and Standards.
- Providing technical guidance and mentoring to junior staff.
- Signing off designs and drawings as a responsible professional engineer.
- Conducting feasibility studies, options analysis, and master planning.
- Developing Scope of Work for projects, in consultation with clients or independently.
- Providing engineering expertise and collaborating with consultants and specialists.
- Representing the Business Unit on local industry groups when required.
- Implementing standardization, planning, and best practice initiatives.
- Establishing design tools, software, relevant codes, and standards for projects.
- Assigning work tasks, monitoring progress and quality.
- Scheduling and participating in engineering design reviews.
- Promoting ethical and professional practices in engineering work.
- Participating in staff development, training, and performance appraisal.
- Ensuring application of Quality Assurance policies.
- Providing input to contract negotiations and business plans.
- Collaborating during design, procurement, and construction phases to ensure timely project completion.
- Preparing and managing technical reports, designs, estimates, procurement documents, and as-built drawings.
- Attending site visits and meetings.
Desired Experience & Qualifications
- 20+ years' experience in a relevant engineering environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (B. Eng or B.Sc.Eng).
- Registration with ECSA as a Professional Engineer (Pr.Eng).
