Key Performance Objectives

Tasks

Strategy Development and Execution

Together with Senior Manager Employee Relations, assist with execution of the MultiChoice Group Employee Relations Strategy

Assist in the management of complex, strategic projects where ER support is required

Stakeholder Management

  • Build and maintain key stakeholder relationships with Business leadership, Human Capital (HC) Leadership, the wider HC community
  • Negotiate and liaise with management at all levels to ensure that the right relationships are built across the business
  • Manage stakeholder relations with Workplace Forum (WPF) and trade unions, in partnership with Principal Specialist Employee Relations
  • Manage any matters with Department of Labour and ensure that a good relationship is maintained

Governance & Compliance

  • Proactively reduce employee relations related risks through risk assessment and actionable feedback
  • Ensure that any projects are effectively executed on where ER has been tasked to manage
  • Enable a stable employee relations environment in the business through the application of ER principles and practices
  • Implement policies and processes aligned to the LRA, BCEA, EEA, and all other relevant labour legislations
  • Ensure that all employment contracts are reviewed annually and legally compliant

Operational Delivery

  • Provide expert advice on ER issues experienced across the Group
  • Manage all disciplinary, incapacity: poor work performance and ill-health, and grievance cases/matters
  • Oversee complex investigations done by external investigators in matters such as sexual harassment cases
  • Identify coaching and training opportunities for line managers, HC and WPF
  • Attend to CCMA cases by representing the Company in the disputes
  • Oversee legal counsel where matters have been referred to such counsel i.e. advice, chairing of grievance matters, representing the company at external legal forums
  • Assist in managing legal spend
  • Review all ER, HC and business policies to ensure compliance
  • Monitor and track ER statistics. Ensure that ER Specialists have submitted accurate monthly reports
  • Review and update all relevant and quality reports required by the ER function
  • Effectively manage Employee Relations administration to ensure that the function has accurate record keeping
  • Ensure that ER training is developed, rolled out and facilitated across the Group
  • Advise on all operational and/or business changes to be implemented across the Group i.e. S189 of LRA processes
  • Collaborate with Wellness to proactively manage ill health matters
  • Qualifications
  • A Degree in Human Resource/Industrial Psychology/Industrial Relations/Labour Law
  • Legal Degree will be an added advantage

Experience

  • A minimum of 6 – 8 years ER experience in Specialist ER Role or Related Function
  • Knowledge of various employment and labour legislation such as the LRA, BCEA, EEA, as well as recent developments both in terms of legislation and case law
  • CCMA processes exposure – Minimum 5 years
