Role Purpose / Business Unit : Evaluation, impact analysis, feasibility study, recommendation, scoping, and implementation of new technologies predominantly within the CORE Network Engineering Domain.

Your responsibilities will include : Leading evaluation, impact analysis, feasibility studies, recommendations, scoping, and technical implementation (design, integration & testing) of new core network cloud-based technologies, products, and services within Vodacom.

Conduct research and provide strategic direction to ensure alignment with Vodafone Technology Strategy, focusing on new core network cloud technologies based on industry best practices and market trends.

Manage and ensure core network resiliency, optimization, and stability, involving management where necessary.

Define key inputs, review tender documents and technical reports, including evaluation and internal process documentation (TRP, BRS, HLD, LLD).

Maintain productive relationships with vendors and cross-functional teams across the company.

The ideal candidate for this role will have : A minimum of a three / four-year degree / diploma in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics.

5-8 years of experience / exposure in ICT, particularly in Mobile Networks with expertise in : Signaling protocols and call flows such as IP, SS#7, SIP, DIAMETER, GSM / GPRS / UMTS / LTE / 5G-SA / Fixed Mobile Convergence / Telco over Cloud (NFV, IaaS, Kubernetes, orchestration).

Network application software lifecycle management for new features and cybersecurity vulnerabilities.

Working knowledge of LINUX OS.

Core competencies, knowledge, and experience : Applying expertise in research, designing innovative solutions, problem-solving, testing new concepts and trials.

Being dynamic, flexible, assertive, proactive, and action-oriented.

Leading technical projects, guiding and mentoring junior team members on new technologies, processes, and best practices.

Willingness to travel and work long hours as required.
