Job summary

Takealot Fufilment Solutions (TFS), a spin-off from Takealot Group, seeks a Senior Software Engineer to join the Fulfilment Orchestration Team. You will develop and optimize systems powering order fulfilment across South Africa, collaborating with business units to streamline deliveries, operations, and customer experience.

Bring 5+ years of production-grade coding, strong SQL skills, and proficiency in Java/Scala/Angular/React/Python/C#. Kubernetes in GCP is a bonus.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science or a similar qualification
• At least 5 years of experience writing robust production code
• Must have experience with SQL database systems
• Nice to have Kubernetes experience in GCP
• Experience developing in a Linux environment
• Proficient in Java, Scala, Angular, React, Python, or C# and eager to learn
• Open to diversifying language skill set
• Equivalent experience if no degree is held
• Solid understanding of RESTful API design and integration is preferred
• Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK) is a bonus

Takealot Fufilment Solutions (TFS), is a new servicing offering which has been spun off from Takealot.com - South Africa's leading online retailer. We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to become part of our newly established Fulfilment Engineering team.

We are an energetic team that is fully responsible for all the systems required to support the Takealot Fulfilment Solutions capabilities as well as the unique challenges that come with orchestrating order fulfilment across distribution centers and logistics operations. We have adopted a microservices architecture to both isolate our logic and to enable scale. We follow REST architecture primarily but do use event-driven architecture where applicable.

This position reports to the Software Engineering Manager of the Fulfilment Orchestration Team.

• Developing and optimizing systems to manage order fulfilment throughout South Africa
• Working with business to improve processes to allow for more efficient deliveries, operations, and improved customer experience.
• Researching and defining solutions across the fulfilment domain.
• Working predominantly on open source platforms

Qualifications & Experience:

• Degree in Computer Science or a similar qualification
• At least 5 years of experience in writing robust, efficient production code
• Must have experience with SQL database systems.
• Nice to have experience with Kubernetes systems ideally in GCP.
• Experience with development in a Linux environment
• Proficient in languages such as Java, Scala, Angular, React, Python, or C# - we are keen to help you learn through the gaps.
• Open to diversifying language skill set
• In the event that you do not have a Bachelor's Degree or an Advanced Diploma, an equivalent experience requirement must be met
• Solid understanding of RESTful API design and integration is preferred
• Nice to have familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack).
