Placements24, a growing financial services provider, seeks a Senior Security Operations Analyst in Mossel Bay, Western Cape. You will monitor alerts, investigate incidents, and refine detection capabilities within the SOC to protect critical assets and ensure business continuity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information security, or related field.
• Minimum of 4 years in a SOC or similar security monitoring role.
• Proficiency with SIEM platforms (Splunk, QRadar, ArcSight) and EDR solutions.
• Strong networking, OS and attack techniques understanding.
• Experience with threat intelligence platforms and analysis.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Scripting for automation (Python, PowerShell) is a plus.
• Certifications like CompTIA Security+, CEH, or GIAC are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Monitor security alerts and events from SIEM, IDS/IPS, EDR, and related tools.
• Investigate and analyze security incidents, identify root causes and impact.
• Develop and refine detection rules and signatures for monitoring systems.
• Perform threat hunting to proactively identify risks.
• Participate in incident response including containment and recovery.
• Document incident details, actions taken, and lessons learned.
• Collaborate with IT and other departments to implement security controls.
• Stay updated with threat intelligence and attack vectors.
• Contribute to SOC process improvements.
