SGS South Africa, Matrolab Division, is seeking to fill a key role in its Civil Engineering Site Laboratories. The role involves providing, implementing, and managing a laboratory production plan as per the site requirements. The Senior Site Laboratory Manager will ensure all client communication is directed to the relevant Regional Manager and that requests are acted upon while maintaining discipline on site.

They should possess enough energy and passion to maintain good staff relationships. Job Description
  1. A Senior Site Laboratory Manager is responsible for laboratory management production planning on site and meeting deadlines.
  2. A Senior Site Laboratory Manager is responsible for liaising with clients and the relevant regional manager.
  3. A Senior Site Laboratory Manager is responsible for ensuring reporting is correct before signing and distribution.
  4. A Senior Site Laboratory Manager is responsible for the implementation of quality control systems and Health and Safety regulations in and around the laboratory.
  5. A Senior Site Laboratory Manager is responsible for a multi-disciplinary site laboratory including soils, concrete, asphalt, seals, and aggregates.
  6. A Senior Site Laboratory Manager is responsible for adhering to all quality and safety requirements of the SGS management system.
  7. A Senior Site Laboratory Manager is responsible for assisting technicians with any job, whether it is on site or inside the laboratory, as per instruction from the authorized site supervisor/laboratory manager.
  8. A Senior Site Laboratory Manager is responsible for performing any other reasonable tasks as assigned by the authorized site supervisor/laboratory manager and regional manager.
  9. A Senior Site Laboratory Manager is responsible for following all SGS policies and procedures on site, including but not limited to payroll, leave, and disciplinary procedures.
  10. Provide training for all staff as training needs are identified.
  11. Ensure all SGS mandatory training (e.g. OI Toolbox, Annual Integrity, Social Media) is completed as required.
  12. All timesheets, claim forms, and payroll instructions must be sent to the relevant departments in a timely manner.
Qualifications
  1. Relevant National Diploma or NQF 6 / Grade 12 or NQF4 equivalent or skills and experience sufficient to be recognized as a qualification through Recognition of Prior Learning.
  2. Driver's License.
  3. Relevant National Diploma and ten years of relevant experience or NQF 6 and ten years of relevant experience. OR
  4. Grade 12 and fifteen years of relevant experience or NQF4 and fifteen years of relevant experience.
Additional Information
  1. Competent and qualified to perform all tests in all laboratory divisions including soils, asphalt, seals, concrete, and aggregate.
  2. Competent and qualified to implement quality laboratory control.
  3. Competent and qualified to supervise and execute all fieldwork.
  4. Familiarity with COLTO.
  5. Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations.
  6. Competent and qualified to perform all tests (TMH 1 and SANS) in all laboratory divisions including soils, asphalt, seals, concrete, and aggregate.
  7. Computer literate (Word, Excel, Outlook).
