Job summary

Valterra Platinum Limited in South Africa invites applications for a Shaft Foreman position to supervise the vertical shaft as part of the logistics process. The role focuses on shift task scheduling, resource allocation, and maintaining safe operations.

You will set machine parameters, identify training needs, and discipline according to procedures. Candidates should have Grade 12, blasting and setter certificates, and at least three years as Shaft Foreman.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 is the minimum educational requirement.
• Blasting Certificate must be valid.
• Onsetter Certificate required.
• Certificate: ABC for Engineering or ABC for Mining.
• Three years’ experience as Shaft Foreman.

Responsibilities

• Scheduling of tasks for the shift team in the area.
• Veto on individual resources on their shift in the area.
• Changing tasks and machine settings on the shift to minimize the effect of unexpected problems.
• Stopping the operation if the working conditions are unsafe.
• Identifying employees suitable for further training.
• Disciplining of employees to agreed parameters and procedures.

Job Description

This role will have 2.9.2 or 2.15.1 appointment in terms of the MHSA, Act 26 of 1996, and will supervise the vertical shaft as part of the logistics process
