What's the role?

This role will be global in nature, based in our Durban, South Africa office.

As the SEO Manager, you will own all aspects of SEO including but not limited to technical, on-page, off-page, and SEO content.

Working within the growth marketing team, you will be responsible for owning the SEO strategy for MMR group, improving our web properties, and working with multiple teams to identify SEO opportunities.

You will also be expected to keep up with changes within SEO and put forth new innovative methods/technologies that improve the efficiency & performance of our SEO campaigns.

The successful candidate will have a strong and proven record of SEO experience, with skills developed within a performance-driven team; resiliency, self-motivated, organized, great attention to detail and eagerness to constantly learn and improve.

Key Responsibilities

1. Day-to-day delivery and implementation of technical, on-page, content and optimisations.
2. Working closely with Head of Acquisition in defining SEO strategies across the MMR group.
3. Actively identifying and developing opportunities for improvement, testing, and innovation with organic search.
4. Use AI writing assistants (e.g., Copy.ai, Writesonic) to create scalable, SEO-optimized drafts, collaborating with content teams to refine messaging, ensure brand alignment, and prioritize user intent.
5. In-depth and regular audits of sites and competitor performance analysis using tools such as Google Analytics and SEMrush.
6. Stay current with all search engine algorithm changes and SEO industry trends and regularly inform and educate on emerging SEO technologies, opportunities, and best practices.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

• 5+ years' experience in a Technical SEO role with a strong understanding of SEO best practices & effective strategies that drive results.
• Expert knowledge of web indexing, crawling, and search engine algorithms.
• Strong experience using SEO & intelligence tools such as SEMrush, Google Analytics, Hotjar, Search Console and many more.
• Top class writing skills, fluent spoken and written English, excellent communication skills and the ability to engage and influence.
• An understanding of the FMCG / CPG industry and/or the market research or marketing industry would be beneficial but not essential.
• Some experience or interest in B2B marketing.
• A multi-tasker, good at hitting (reasonable) deadlines and developing copy with high attention to detail, on spec and on time.
• Strong attention to detail.
