Job Title: Senior Scientist: Process Mineralogy

Location: Gauteng, Randburg

Deadline: June 22

This position involves assisting the Head/Executive Manager in maintaining and expanding project work within the mining and metallurgical industry, ensuring alignment with the Division's business plans. The role requires providing technical expertise, interacting with clients/stakeholders, and managing projects to meet deadlines, budgets, and quality standards.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Identifying client/stakeholder needs and proposing suitable project work to generate income.
  2. Executing projects efficiently, within schedule and budget, and delivering valid, professional conclusions.
  3. Leading advanced interactions with clients/stakeholders for project execution.
  4. Ensuring compliance with internal administration, SHEQ procedures, and project management protocols.
  5. Maintaining thorough documentation and producing professional reports and publications.

Requirements include:

  • At least 5 years of experience in mineralogical equipment operation (e.g., X-ray diffraction, electron microscopy, optical microscopy).
  • Preference for candidates experienced with automated scanning electron microscopy (MLA, QEMSCAN, TIMA).
  • Knowledge of emerging mineralogy techniques is advantageous.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to draft proposals, manage client relationships, and handle project management tasks.

Qualifications: MSc in Geology, Earth Science, Mineralogy, or Metallurgy/Engineering.
