Introduction

Mintek has an exciting career opportunity for a Senior Scientist / Engineer within the Mineralogy Division.

The incumbent will develop software tools and data models to improve interpretation of mineralogical data (numerical, images) for research or commercial services, in accordance with project schedules and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist management in expanding project work from the mining/metallurgical industry and research agencies, providing expertise and interacting with clients and partners.
• Identify client needs and propose suitable research or commercial projects.
• Lead and execute projects involving algorithm/software development, mineralogical data modeling, simulation, and interpretation.
• Ensure project delivery within agreed timelines and budgets, maintaining technical and professional standards.
• Develop protocols for optimal operation of imaging equipment.
• Follow QES procedures and produce professional reports and publications.

Qualifications and Experience

• 3-5+ years in data and image analysis applications using commercial or open-source platforms.
• Coding and modeling experience, preferably with mineralogical/metallurgical data.
• Project management skills.
• Proposal writing for project funding.
• Client relationship management.

Qualifications
