Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Sanitation Inspector in George, Western Cape, to assess and enforce sanitation standards across commercial, residential, and public buildings. You will conduct site inspections, investigate complaints, interpret regulations, and guide owners and managers to maintain public health and safety.

The role requires a strong background in environmental health or building inspection with a sanitation specialization and a commitment to community well-being.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health, Public Health, or related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of sanitation inspection experience or related field.
• In-depth knowledge of sanitation principles, public health laws, building codes, and inspection procedures.
• Proven ability to interpret and enforce complex regulations.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
• Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation for site visits.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough on-site inspections of buildings to assess compliance with sanitation regulations and building codes.
• Investigate sanitation-related complaints and potential public health hazards.
• Interpret and enforce sanitation laws, ordinances, and regulations effectively.
• Prepare detailed inspection reports documenting findings, violations, and required actions.
• Issue notices of violation and follow up to ensure compliance within timeframes.
• Educate building owners, managers, and the public on sanitation requirements and best practices.
• Collaborate with regulatory agencies as needed.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections and enforcement actions.
• Stay current with changes in sanitation laws and inspection techniques.
• Testify in legal proceedings or hearings when necessary.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health

Master's degree in Environmental Health (advantage)
