Minimum requirements for the role :
- A tertiary qualification in chemistry, chemical engineering, environmental science, or a related field is preferred but not essential.
- Previous experience in the water treatment or related industry is essential.
- Experience in a managerial role leading sales and service teams.
- Ability to build, inspire, and lead high-performing cross-functional teams (sales, operations, service).
- Proven ability to develop and articulate regional strategies aligned with corporate goals.
- Strong understanding of industrial market dynamics in Gauteng and broader South Africa.
- Ability to identify growth opportunities, streamline operations, and enhance market penetration.
- Success in managing multi-disciplinary sales teams and achieving sales targets.
- Technical knowledge of water treatment processes, chemistry, and equipment (boiler, cooling, wastewater, reverse osmosis, etc.).
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strategic thinking with analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong experience with boiler, cooling water, and effluent water treatment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for :
- Managing and leading sales and technical teams at customer sites within the industrial, mining, and water treatment markets to meet revenue, profitability, and market share objectives.
- Preparing and achieving regional sales budgets, ensuring sales and service targets are met.
- Visiting strategic and major accounts with sales and service staff to assess account status.
- Training, coaching, and motivating staff in the region.
- Providing monthly regional reports on activities, sales results, and competitor activities.
- Reviewing progress and adjusting sales strategies with senior management approval.
- Participating in industry conferences, exhibitions, and professional societies to stay updated.
- Developing and implementing regional sales strategies aligned with national goals.
- Leading the region to meet or exceed sales targets for water treatment chemicals, systems, and equipment.
- Providing technical support and solving complex water treatment challenges.
- Conducting client visits, presentations, and negotiations for long-term partnerships.
- Ensuring timely resolution of client issues and service excellence.
- Managing the regional expenses budget, sales forecast, and stock holdings.
- Monitoring performance, recognizing talent, and conducting bi-annual performance reviews.
