Minimum requirements for the role :
- A tertiary qualification in either chemistry, chemical engineering, environmental science, or a related field is preferred but not essential.
- Previous experience working within the water treatment or related industry is essential for the role.
- Experience in a managerial role leading and managing a team of sales and service staff.
- Ability to build, inspire, and lead high-performing teams across functions such as sales, operations, and service.
- Proven ability to develop and articulate a clear regional strategy aligned with corporate goals.
- Strong understanding of industrial market dynamics in Gauteng and broader South Africa.
- Ability to identify growth opportunities, streamline operations, and enhance market penetration.
- Success in managing multi-disciplinary sales teams and achieving sales targets.
- Technical knowledge of water treatment processes, chemistry, and equipment (boiler, cooling, wastewater, reverse osmosis, etc.).
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strategic thinker with analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong experience in boiler, cooling water, and effluent water treatment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for :
- Managing and driving a sales and technical team at customer sites within the industrial, mining, and related water treatment markets, ensuring achievement of revenue, profitability, and market share objectives aligned with the company's water treatment chemistry, design, and equipment offerings.
- Preparing and achieving regional sales budgets, and responsible for sales and servicing of customers.
- Accompanying sales and service staff during visits to strategic and major accounts to assess account status.
- Training, coaching, and motivating all staff members in the region.
- Providing the direct manager with a monthly regional report on activities, sales results, and opposition activities.
- Reviewing progress goals and adjusting sales strategies with senior management approval as needed.
- Attending industry conferences, exhibitions, meetings, and joining professional societies to stay updated on market developments.
- Developing and implementing district sales strategies aligned with regional and national goals.
- Leading the district to meet or exceed sales targets for water treatment chemicals, systems, and equipment.
- Providing technical support and problem-solving for complex water treatment challenges.
- Conducting client visits, presentations, and negotiations to foster long-term partnerships.
- Ensuring timely resolution of client issues and service excellence.
- Managing the regional expenses budget, sales forecast, and stock holdings.
- Monitoring individual performance, recognizing talent, and conducting bi-annual performance reviews.
