The Role
The role is responsible for continuously monitoring and analyzing safety, health & environment data and systems to minimize and mitigate employee exposure to unsafe and hazardous conditions.
The role coordinates the maintenance of SHE systems by conducting daily, weekly, and monthly analysis, reporting findings to the relevant line manager for action plan implementation, and maintaining effective procedures and systems.
Responsibilities Will Include But Not Limited To
Conforming to legal requirements and duties of 2.17.4.
Participating in Safety Audits and ensuring all logistical arrangements are made.
Participating in operational issue-based risk assessments and compiling action plans from performed risk assessments.
Setting up, participating in, and coordinating departmental meetings with all necessary stakeholders, including line managers and safety representatives.
Compiling reports.
Conducting training and coaching.
Requirements
National Diploma in Safety Management or working towards completion, with a minimum of 10 subjects completed at Level 1.
Minimum of 3 years mining experience in health and safety.
Mining or technical professional with relevant safety training and a sound performance record, including at least 1 year in middle management positions.
Experience in incident investigation (LFI).
In-depth understanding of relevant safety and mining legislation, including the Mine Health and Safety Act and Occupational Diseases Act.
Good understanding of Operational Risk Management (ORM), safety management theory, behavioral safety, and risk management frameworks and systems.
Knowledge of Safety Management systems.
Valid driver's license.
Possession or ability to obtain a valid Certificate of Fitness.
Advantageous
Trade and / or Mine Overseer ticket.
Blasting Certificate.
COMSOC 1 & 2.
Experience in mining, engineering, or metallurgy.
ICAM Investigation Lead.
