A leading company in South Africa is seeking a Safety Officer to ensure compliance with SHEQ standards in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate should have a Grade 12 qualification and at least 5 years of relevant experience in the FMCG and manufacturing sectors. Responsibilities include conducting audits, managing safety training, and implementing risk management strategies.

Qualifications
•Grade 12 qualification with relevant qualifications
•5 years of relevant experience
Responsibilities:
•Ensure compliance with Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality (SHEQ) standards.
•Implement and enforce security measures to protect the entity and its employees.
•Conduct regular audits, inspections, and risk assessments; follow up on corrective actions.
•Develop, update, and train employees on SOPs and WIs.
•Investigate incidents, near misses, and accidents; implement corrective actions.
•Manage IOD and COD claims, liaising with medical professionals and insurance providers.
•Organize and coordinate on-site and off-site SHEQ training sessions.
•Oversee contractor safety management and ensure compliance with SHEQ standards.
•Conduct regular plant walks and safety inductions.
•Manage legal appointments and ensure personnel are trained and competent.
•Facilitate effective SHER communication and continuous improvement initiatives.
•Prepare and submit weekly SHEQ reports; track and analyze performance metrics.
•Lead the Health and Safety Committee; address and resolve SHEQ issues.
•Develop and implement risk management strategies.
•Manage work permits for employees and contractors.
•Ensure compliance with SHEQ legislation and regulations.
•Support Capex projects and ensure they comply with SHEQ standards.
•Procure and distribute PPE; maintain stock levels and safety compliance.
•Conduct regular equipment inspections and maintain accurate records.
•Implement and maintain environmental management systems.
•Lead by example with a hands-on approach to SHEQ activities and performance improvement.
