Placements24 is recruiting a Senior Risk Manager for a leading financial institution in Port Elizabeth. The role leads enterprise risk management across market, credit, operational and compliance risks, develops frameworks, policies, and reports to senior management and the board.

The ideal candidate has a Master's in Finance/Economics/Risk Management with 8+ years in financial services and holds FRM/PRM/CFA or similar credentials.

Qualifications

• Master's degree required in Finance, Economics, Risk Management, or related field.
• Minimum 8 years of risk management experience within financial services.
• FRM/PRM/CFA certifications are highly desirable.

About the Role

Our client, a well-established financial institution in Port Elizabeth , is seeking a seasoned Senior Risk Manager to lead its enterprise risk management function. This role is responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating a broad spectrum of risks, including market, credit, operational, and compliance risks. The Senior Risk Manager will develop and implement risk management frameworks, policies, and procedures to ensure the organization's financial stability and strategic objectives are met. This is a key leadership position within the financial services sector of the Eastern Cape .

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain the company's enterprise risk management (ERM) framework.
• Identify, assess, and prioritize key risks across the organization, including market, credit, operational, liquidity, and compliance risks.
• Design and implement risk mitigation strategies and action plans.
• Develop and maintain risk policies, procedures, and controls.
• Conduct regular risk assessments and prepare comprehensive risk reports for senior management and the board.
• Monitor the effectiveness of risk management strategies and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Lead and mentor the risk management team, fostering a strong risk-aware culture.
• Collaborate with various departments to embed risk management principles into business processes and decision-making.
• Stay abreast of industry best practices and regulatory changes impacting risk management.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Risk Management, or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in risk management within the financial services industry.
• Proven experience in developing and implementing enterprise risk management frameworks.
• Strong understanding of financial markets, instruments, and regulatory landscape (e.g., Basel III, SARB regulations).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and quantitative skills.
• Demonstrated leadership abilities and experience managing a team.
• Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Professional certifications such as FRM, PRM, or CFA are highly desirable.
