Job summary

ASML in Johannesburg seeks a Responsible Pharmacist to ensure the safe, compliant management of pharmaceutical products across warehousing, quality assurance and distribution operations. The RP will oversee dispensing, storage, procurement and distribution to maintain product integrity and regulatory readiness.

The role requires a Bachelor/Master/PharmD in Pharmacy, 5–10 years of licensed pharmacist experience, and SAPC registration with strong regulatory and operational expertise.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm), Master of Pharmacy (M.Pharm) or PharmD from an accredited institution.
• Minimum 5–10 years as a licensed pharmacist with strong operations and compliance background.
• Must be registered with the SAPC (South African Pharmacy Council) and in good standing, with a current license to practice.

Responsibilities

• Ensure a qualified Pharmacist is on-site during operating hours to oversee dispensing and handling of medicines.
• Schedule pharmacists to provide continuous regulatory coverage and peak-period staffing.
• Oversee dispensing, patient counselling, and medicine-related tasks under Pharmacist supervision.
• Provide staff training on legal/regulatory requirements for pharmacy operations.
• Arrange delegation of authority in the RP’s absence with proper documentation.
• Oversee procurement from licensed suppliers and ensure regulatory compliance in sourcing.
• Supervise storage of medicines to maintain quality and safety, and ensure correct packaging and handling.
• Oversee returns, recalls, and disposal according to SOPs and regulatory rules.
• Coordinate distribution with compliance to transport and handling regulations.
• Ensure adherence to GWDP, GDP, GMP, GWP and GPP across operations.
• Conduct regular self-inspections and audits to ensure SOP compliance.
• Perform temperature mapping and validation of storage conditions.
• Ensure equipment calibration and validation for compliance with all standards.
