Job summary

Stellenbosch University’s Library and Information Service invites applications for a Research Support Librarian (Post Level 9) at the Carnegie Research Commons on the Stellenbosch Campus. The role is second in charge to the Manager and supports masters and doctoral students as well as university researchers with information literacy, reference management and data analysis software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in library and information science or equivalent.
• At least three years' experience in a client service division or research environment of an academic or research library.
• Experience with research support services: theses/dissertation structure, referencing, plagiarism, copyright.
• Advanced knowledge of reference management software, especially EndNote.
• Knowledge of data analysis software such as ATLAS.ti and SPSS.
• Knowledge of general IT hardware and software applicable to the research environment.

Responsibilities

• Providing research and information services and research support to clients.
• IT and software support in the Research Commons.
• Conducting information literacy, digital/AI literacy training and creating e-learning content.
• Conducting research skills training.
• General administration of the Research Commons.
• Liaising, building relationships, communicating and marketing.
