Placements24 in Nelspruit is seeking a Senior Research Scientist with a strong background in Pharmacology to join their innovative R&D team.

You will design and conduct pharmacology studies, evaluate drug candidates, interpret data, and contribute to preclinical strategies, PK/PD, and lead optimization.

Qualifications

• PhD required in Pharmacology, Toxicology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related field.
• At least 5 years of drug discovery/research experience.
• Proven expertise designing and executing pharmacological assays and models.
• Strong PK/PD understanding.

Responsibilities

About the Role

Our client is looking for a dedicated Senior Research Scientist with a strong background in Pharmacology to join their innovative R&D team in Nelspruit .

Key Responsibilities

• Design and conduct in vitro and in vivo pharmacology studies to evaluate the efficacy and safety of novel drug candidates.
• Investigate mechanisms of drug action and target engagement using biochemical and cellular assays.
• Analyze and interpret complex pharmacological data, and present findings to project teams and senior management.
• Contribute to the optimization of lead compounds and support the preclinical development strategy.
• Stay current with scientific literature and emerging trends in pharmacology and drug discovery, applying this knowledge to research efforts in Nelspruit .

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Pharmacology, Toxicology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of research experience in drug discovery and development, preferably in a pharmaceutical or biotech setting.
• Proven expertise in designing and executing a variety of pharmacological assays and experimental models.
• Strong understanding of pharmacokinetics (PK) and pharmacodynamics (PD) principles.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and written/verbal communication skills are essential for this role.
