Placements24 in Upington invites a highly experienced Senior Research Scientist in Geophysics to join our exploration and research team. The role focuses on applying advanced geophysical methods to understand subsurface structures and support resource exploration and environmental studies.

You will design surveys, interpret seismic, magnetic, and gravity data, mentor junior staff, and contribute to new exploration strategies within a collaborative scientific environment. A Ph.D.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Geophysics, Earth Sciences, or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of relevant professional experience in geophysical exploration or research.
• Strong expertise in seismic data processing and interpretation, and experience with other geophysical methods.
• Proficiency in geophysical modeling software and data analysis tools.
• Excellent understanding of geological principles and their relation to geophysical signatures.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information clearly.

Responsibilities

• Design and oversee geophysical surveys, including seismic, magnetic, and gravity data acquisition.
• Process, interpret, and model geophysical data to delineate subsurface structures and identify potential resources.
