Location

OUCRU-VN offices at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases, Thien Loc, and at the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology in Hanoi. Travel to hospitals, units around Hanoi, or within Vietnam might be required.

Hours of work

Full time: Monday – Friday, 37.5 hours per week, extra hours may be required.

Tenure

Initially for 01 year, including a 2-month probation period, with the possibility of extension.

Background

The Oxford University Clinical Research Unit (OUCRU) is a large-scale clinical and public health research unit with offices in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, Vietnam, Jakarta, Indonesia, and Kathmandu, Nepal. In Vietnam, we are hosted by the Hospital of Tropical Diseases (HTD) in Ho Chi Minh City and the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases (NHTD) in Hanoi. OUCRU's vision is to impact health locally, regionally, and globally by leading a locally driven research program on infectious diseases in Southeast Asia, focusing on health issues pertinent to our partner hospitals and countries.

Job summary

The role involves coordinating research projects across Vietnam, ensuring high-quality operations aligned with international standards, and contributing to OUCRU's research growth. The Senior Research Coordinator will manage projects in Vietnam and oversee implementation across Asia and Africa, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to protocols, GCP, and local regulations.

Key responsibilities and tasks
  • Collaborate with PIs and local partners to finalize research protocols, budgets, and documents during project start-up.
  • Support ethical approval processes with local IRB and international ECs.
  • Manage study sites, ensuring compliance with protocols, GCP, and regulations.
  • Oversee budgets and support operational and financial reporting.
  • Track progress, report issues, and work on solutions with stakeholders.
  • Develop SOPs, manuals, and reports; communicate with sites to monitor progress.
  • Participate in meetings, report progress, and address challenges.
  • Supervise study implementation, ensuring quality and compliance.
  • Liaise with sponsors for monitoring and audits; prepare documentation.
  • Manage data collection, entry, cleaning, and storage following policies and guidelines.
  • Coordinate logistics for study materials and documents.
  • Handle administrative tasks like data collection, reimbursements, and filing.
  • Coordinate patient visits as per protocol.
  • Deliver GCP training for local staff as needed.
  • Train staff and investigators in protocol procedures.
  • Supervise and support research staff.
  • Participate in team meetings and share knowledge.
  • Translate documents between Vietnamese and English if needed.
  • Attend training to update skills and knowledge.
Selection Criteria

Essential

  • Degree in Pharmacy, Science, Public Health, or related field.
  • Over 3 years of experience as a research coordinator or similar.
  • Deep understanding of GCP guidelines.
  • Training and experience in project management.
  • Proven presentation skills.
  • Excellent Vietnamese and English skills.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and record-keeping skills.
  • Diplomatic interpersonal skills.

Desired

  • Experience managing or leading a team.
  • Experience in budgeting and procurement management.
Benefits
  • Salary: Grade RS4/IC4; $1,262 – $1,550 gross/month.
