Placements24 seeks a seasoned Network Infrastructure Technician for a fully remote role within South Africa. The candidate will design, implement, and maintain enterprise-grade networks, ensuring security, reliability, and scalable performance across a remote-first operation.

The position requires 7+ years of hands-on enterprise networking, expertise in routing, switching, firewall management, and cloud networking (AWS/Azure). CCNA/CCNP or equivalent certificates are highly valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum of 7 years of hands-on enterprise network administration and support.
• In-depth knowledge of routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP), switching technologies (e.g., Cisco IOS, Juniper JUNOS), and firewall management.
• Proficiency in network security principles and best practices.
• Experience with cloud networking environments (e.g., AWS VPC, Azure VNet) is a strong plus.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a remote setting.
• Relevant industry certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent are highly desirable.
• Demonstrated experience with network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, PRTG).

Responsabilités

• Design, install, configure, and maintain enterprise-level network hardware, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
• Implement and manage network protocols such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, and VLANs.
• Monitor network performance and troubleshoot connectivity issues, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
• Ensure network security by implementing and managing firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and access control measures.
• Plan and execute network upgrades, migrations, and expansions with minimal disruption to services.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and standard operating procedures.
• Provide remote technical support to end-users and other IT teams for network-related issues.
• Stay abreast of the latest networking technologies and best practices, recommending and implementing improvements.
• Manage network performance metrics and capacity planning to ensure scalability.
• Participate in on-call rotation for emergency network support.
