Placements24 seeks a Senior Automation Systems Engineer for a fully remote position with a Centurion, Gauteng hub. You will design, implement, and optimize complex automation systems across diverse projects, mentoring junior engineers and guiding technical discussions.

The role requires 7–10 years of automation experience, expert PLC programming across major platforms, and strong SCADA/HMI skills. A remote-capable EU/SA-agnostic environment offers flexibility and global project exposure.

Qualifications

• Master's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• 7–10 years of progressive automation experience.
• Expert-level PLC programming with Siemens, Rockwell, Mitsubishi.
• Extensive SCADA/HMI software experience and system integration.
• Strong robotics, motion control, and networking knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement advanced automation and control systems for industrial applications.
• Lead specification, selection, and integration of automation hardware (PLCs, robots, sensors, HMIs).
• Develop and troubleshoot PLC/SCADA software for reliability and performance.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and software teams for cohesive design.
• Conduct simulations, testing, and commissioning to validate solutions.
• Provide technical leadership and mentor junior engineers.
