Job Description :

  • The Senior Regional Operations Manager is responsible for the end-to-end supply chain functionality of Distribution Centres in the region, overseeing over 4000 staff members across multiple DCs.

Minimum Requirements :

Education :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations Management, or Business Management – Essential
  • Certification in Lean Six Sigma or similar process excellence frameworks – Advantageous

Experience :

  • Extensive FMCG industry experience, with a minimum of 8 to 10+ years in large-scale, multi-site distribution or logistics operations within the supply chain, preferably in a service-related industry
  • At least 3 to 5 years in a senior leadership role managing substantial teams and budgets
  • Third-party management experience, particularly in the TES industry, is advantageous
  • Exposure to unionized environments and CCMA conciliation/arbitration experience are advantageous
  • Strong understanding of labour market trends, TES industry, and Labour legislation

Roles and Responsibilities :

  • Set fill rate and headcount targets with clients each season and budget period; targeted fill rate is 96% per shift
  • Ensure accurate and timely staff payments via TES and WFM systems
  • Implement staff development and training programs for all management levels
  • Submit an annual succession plan as part of the PDP process
  • Adhere strictly to HR policies and procedures
  • Communicate employment equity initiatives quarterly to staff
  • Ensure compliance with PPE standards as per client HR policy
  • Protect client assets, including MHE equipment and general equipment such as cages and totes
  • Manage agency compliance with labour onboarding, exit processes, and disciplinary tracking
  • Measure and manage agency KPIs such as shift fill rates, throughput, payroll queries, and MHE performance
  • Provide regular performance feedback to agencies and clients
  • Ensure process compliance with WMS standards
  • Review daily shift reports and implement corrective actions
  • Monitor weekly budget reports and ensure adherence to financial plans
  • Manage financial and compliance aspects of all ICs and report discrepancies to the client
  • Oversee IC budget management and controls
  • Support all internal and external audits
  • Address client queries promptly via the Admin department
  • Collaborate with the client’s Replenishment and Transport teams to ensure seamless inbound and delivery operations
  • Maintain close communication with the Planning, Operations, SSM, and Inventory departments
  • Align team efforts with client strategies and action plans
  • Ensure the team meets OTIF delivery targets
  • Support store operations during promotions and peak periods
  • Manage supplier relationships through the Replenishment team
  • Minimize financial risks and damages
  • Protect client assets at all times, including the ADfusion model
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives quarterly and forecast staff expenditure weekly
  • Manage budgets in coordination with the client’s Finance Manager
  • Reduce MHE costs and damages, and claims from store levels by adhering to outbound processes
  • Provide ongoing staff training to reduce damages in picking environments
  • Audit TES statements and invoices regularly
  • Implement and adhere to SHEQ programs from the head office
  • Support SHEQ audits and ensure staff training and appointments align with SHEQ standards
  • Manage IOD procedures and compliance
  • Submit SHEQ monthly reports and drive BBBEE and Employment Equity initiatives
