About the Role

Our client, a leading financial institution with a significant real estate portfolio, is seeking a highly analytical and experienced Senior Real Estate Analyst to join their sophisticated team based in Sandton . This role is integral to evaluating investment opportunities, managing risk, and providing strategic insights into the real estate market. You will be responsible for conducting in-depth financial analysis, market research, and due diligence to support decision-making for acquisitions, developments, and portfolio management. The ideal candidate will possess strong quantitative skills, a comprehensive understanding of real estate finance, and the ability to articulate complex findings to senior stakeholders. This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity in the heart of Johannesburg's financial district.

Key Responsibilities

• Conducting detailed financial modeling and valuation of real estate assets and potential investments.
• Performing market research and analysis to identify investment trends, opportunities, and risks.
• Evaluating the financial feasibility of development projects and acquisitions.
• Assisting in the preparation of investment memorandums and presentations for investment committees.
• Monitoring the performance of the existing real estate portfolio and recommending strategic adjustments.
• Conducting due diligence, including site visits, financial statement analysis, and legal review coordination.
• Staying abreast of economic factors, demographic shifts, and regulatory changes impacting the real estate market.
• Collaborating with internal teams (acquisitions, asset management) and external advisors.
• Developing and maintaining relationships with property owners, developers, and capital partners.
• Contributing to the formulation of investment strategies and asset allocation for the real estate division.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Real Estate, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in real estate finance, investment analysis, or a related area.
• Expertise in financial modeling, valuation techniques (DCF, NPV, IRR), and sensitivity analysis.
• Strong understanding of real estate market dynamics, capital markets, and property types.
• Proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and ideally Argus Enterprise or similar valuation software.
• Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex data clearly.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a high-performing team.
• Experience in the Sandton or broader Gauteng commercial real estate market is a significant advantage.
