Job summary

OneDayOnly.co.za is hiring a senior mobile engineer to build and ship consumer-facing apps across React Native and native iOS/Android. You’ll own features end-to-end, optimize performance, and collaborate with backend teams to design resilient APIs.

You will mentor teammates, contribute to the design system, and ensure pixel-perfect UI from design specs while releasing to App Store and Google Play with quality and speed.

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years of professional mobile development experience.
• Strong proficiency in React Native with production apps.
• Native iOS/Swift and/or Android/Kotlin experience.
• Proven track record of building and shipping consumer-facing mobile apps.
• Deep understanding of mobile performance optimisation and best practices.
• Experience with mobile CI/CD (Bitrise, Fastlane, GitHub Actions).
• RESTful APIs and mobile networking familiarity.
• Experience with GraphQL, WebSockets, or push notifications.
• Experience implementing designs from Figma or similar tools with high accuracy.
• Familiarity with App Store and Google Play release processes.
• Experience with e-commerce or high-traffic consumer apps.
• Contributions to open-source mobile projects.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver mobile features across React Native, iOS, and Android.
• Own features end-to-end — from design to production release.
• Write clean, tested, maintainable code to standards.
• Participate in code reviews and provide feedback to peers.
• Identify and fix performance bottlenecks across startup, rendering and networking.
• Monitor app health metrics and drive continuous performance improvements.
• Maintain and improve mobile CI/CD pipelines and release processes.
• Collaborate with backend engineers to design and integrate robust APIs.
• Contribute to mobile design system and shared components.
• Mentor junior developers and share knowledge through reviews and sessions.
